Design And Display

#

Apple's watch has a distinguished rectangular shape with rounded corners and comes in three different materials - Aluminium, Stainless steel, and Titanium. It also has a distinctive digital crown. The watch has an LTPO OLED screen with 1000 nits of brightness that performs pretty well in sunlight.

Samsung has opted for a more traditional route with a circular shape and is made of aluminum. However, there is a premium model available made of stainless steel. It doesn't feature a crown. Instead, it has a touch-capacitive bezel surrounding the display that helps you navigate the UI and scroll. We found that Samsung has better resolution and higher quality display as compared to Apple.

The design is a personal preference for many people, but having the watch available in different materials helps, so we are giving this point to Apple.

Operating System Software

Apple's watch comes with an S6 chip, with compatible software and hardware optimization that pairs perfectly with similar iOS devices. We found the watch to be fast, responsive and is a perfect partner to your iPhone and Mac. You can unlock your phone, download apps onto the smartwatch, and much more.

Galaxy Watch 4 features Exynos W920 SoC, a specialized chipset for smartwatches. The watch was fast, snappy, efficient, and syncs well with other Android devices. You can also download different apps from the Google Play Store.

Health Benefits

#

We were very pleased to see both the watches excelling when it came to health features, but Samsung definitely had more tricks up its sleeve. Thanks to a new BioActive Sensor, it was able to masterfully track our body composition, heart rate, ECG, fall detection, steps, SpO2, and calories.

Pricing And Battery Life

Both watches are laden with attractive features, but it is all for nothing if the watches are not able to sustain their usage. We found that both the watches were pretty consistent when it came to charging and took about two hours to charge fully. You can use them for about two days, but they need to be charged up regularly if you rely on them heavily for tracking.

Galaxy Watch's basic model starts off at $249, and for Apple, it was around $399 that has now come to around $300. Both have cellular versions available as well as models in different materials at an additional price.

Galaxy Watches only work with Android, and Apple watches only work with iOS devices. Ultimately, what you choose to buy depends on what type of device you intend to pair the device with. However, from a price point and overall features, Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 has the edge over Apple's, and that is why it is one of the best-selling watches on the market. It also helps that Samsung has brought out so many variations to appease different consumers.

Smartwatches are a fan-favorite for offering impressive utility at an attractive price. Given that the tiny device can offer so many uses, it definitely does not hurt to amplify those benefits or extending the shelf life with the help of accessories. Take a look at some of our best picks:

Apple Watch Case – A protector makes sense, given the watch is potentially exposed to damage in case of an accident. If you tend to be clumsy or even just want to safeguard your watch against impact, this will go a long way in ensuring it keeps working in crucial circumstances.

2 in 1 Watch and Phone Charger – This is a great gadget to travel with! Nobody likes carrying a different charger for their devices if they had their way. With Apply introducing wireless charging, you can now charge your phone and watch via the same charger simultaneously.

Apple Watch Bands – Watch bands can crack, may not fit properly, or the black/ white strap can quickly become an eyesore. With the easy to snap-in bands, you can change the colors and replace them in case the original bands get damaged, at a fraction of the price!
